Radio Huns, the voice of the South Asian community in Ottawa has been running since 2001 and has become the longest running South Asian radio program in North America.
Renamed in tribute to its founder Hunsdeep “Huns” Singh Rangar on Aug. 1st 2020, it continues his legacy of keeping the community vibrant and well-informed, whilst promoting talent, encouraging entrepreneurship and preserving its cultural and music roots.
Hunsdeep “Huns” Singh Rangar was recognizable from afar for his infectious smile, unending wit and charming original humour. He touched an endless number of people and brought smiles to each one during his lifetime. Describing himself as being “made in India and packaged in Canada,” his legacy lives on with every beat of music that plays on Ottawa’s airways.
Mr. Speaker, about a decade ago, a bright young man resplendent with energy and optimism came into my life. Hunsdeep Rangar invited me to participate in South Asian Fest, an event of which he was very proud. Later, he would invite me on his famous local Ottawa radio show. - Pierre Poilievre, MP (Ontario)
